The very first stage of the Austrian Jakobsweg starts, in fact, in Bratislava, at the ruins of the chapel of St. James. The first four kilometres are still in Slovak territory. This short section connects Bratislava with the Austrian town of Wolfsthal and eventually reach the Tomb of St. James in the Spanish city of Santiago de Compostela, the very target of all Camino routes.
This section consists of only one relatively undemanding stage, which leads along the northern and southern banks of the Danube to the Petržalka – Berg border crossing, just some kilometres away from the village of Wolfsthal.
We are a civic association whose goal is to renew and promote the Way of Saint James in Slovakia. Our members work daily to restore this ancient route for modern pilgrims seeking spiritual renewal as well as wanting to get to know themselves better and discover the natural and cultural treasures of our country
